The scientific program explores the following themes through posters, free papers, plenary sessions and invited addresses by national and international experts.
- Enhancing Mobility through Advanced Technology
Technology continues to change rapidly with ongoing research and the introduction of advanced componentry such as stance control or microprocessor knee units. We invite contributions that highlight how research and technology has contributed to changing contemporary treatment modalities.
- The Multidisciplinary Approach to Improving Outcomes in Rehabilitation
We invite contributions that highlight how rehabilitation can be improved by a multidisciplinary team approach. Presentations that showcase the particular contribution of therapists, medics and other professional groups are particularly encouraged.
- Challenges to the Delivery of Prosthetics and Orthotics Services
This session aims to explore the challenges of providing an equitable clinical service throughout Australia given the increasing need and financial constraints. Works focusing on the particular needs of remote or indigenous communities are encouraged.
- The Changing Face of Chronic Disease Management - Prevention or Cure
The prevalence of chronic diseases such as diabetes and peripheral vascular disease are increasing; particularly as the population ages. Governments, funding agencies and clinicians are working toward preventing the incidence and managing the burden of disease. This session provides the opportunity to share your perspective and experiences.
The conference promises to be a high level event with an impressive faculty of national and international speakers. These presentations will examine the issues and interests of education and clinical training of professionals in prosthetics and orthotics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, engineering, rehabilitation medicine and others involved in the rehabilitation of people with neuromusculoskeletal disabilities.
